Hello,

In order to provide more interesting information about each user that contributes to the PHP Classes site, two more fields were added experimentally in the user options: country and home page.

Like with the user age and the picture, the country and the home page will be used to display in the pages and notification messages about the classes contributed by each user. These two items of personal information are optional but if you specify them, they will help your contributions look more credible.

The site will try to figure what your country is from your IP address that is also stored in your login session records. The country lookup is actually done by resolving the domain of your IP address if it is associated to a specific country. When it is not possible to determine the country, the site will query the NetGeo service using this class that you probably know already:

http://www.phpclasses.org/netgeoclass

Since the Netgeo query may fail or return the wrong country, it is recommended that you verify and correct it by logging in the user options page. If you do not wish to display your country in the site pages, you may also go in the user options page and set it to the option marked as '-' .

The site will also try to display a waving flag for your country near its name. There are not yet flags for all countries. So, if you wish to see your country flag displayed in the site, just mail me back to info@phpclasses.org and I will try to provide a nice country flag to display in the pages where your user records are shown.

I will only announce these new resources next week to all the site users. Until then please check out your class pages and let me know if you find any problem.

Regards,
Manuel Lemos
