Boy do I hate posting this on a forum labeled "Ask the specialists", but here goes.

I am trying to learn some PHP.

I installed Sambar 7 on my Windows 2000 Pro desktop. I "works". I edited the configuration file (name??) to correctly point to PHP.exe under the [ISAPI] heading

I downloaded the ZIP version of PHP 5.2.3, which is the latest for my operating system. I moved php.ini to the WINNT directory as instructed. It installed and created a desktop icon, which, when clicked, produces a DOS-box like window whose purpose I don't know. It won't accept entries of any sort.

If I create a file with PHP script content and label it .htm, I can access it through Sambar without, of course, the script content, just the HTML. If I change the script extension to .php, I can see that it loads, but the display window is completely blank.

Can someone help or point to a fulll-scale set of instructions for doing the install?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Doug
