The CPL is an OSI approved FOSS License, I believe originally written by IBM.

opensource.org/licenses/cpl1.0.php

It's also in the OSI list of "Licenses that are popular and widely used or with strong communities"

I like the GPL but I really prefer CPL.

Would it be possible to get the CPL added to the list of licenses we can just select when submitting a class?

Yes, it is possible to add many more licenses, but it is hard to tell which would be worth adding. That is why some of the more popular were added and others can be specified using the custom license option and then adding a file to the package with whatever license you use.
