Could i promt the user to download the excel file insted of it opening in the browser? it doesnt work in mozilla, so i would want it to download.

Sorry, but it is not possible, without using Internet Explorer.

The vbscript code is where the excel is really generated, so you need Interner Explorer and Microsoft Office Web Components. With this configuration you can use the "export" method to save the excel to a file, or the user could use the toolbar to save it.

In phpclasses there is a lot of examples to generate excel without com from Microsoft, in this case, they would be more useful for you.
