Nice article. Presents a good overview of the state of HTML5 and what it holds for the future. Thanks.

Just a small correction:
"Flash is a technology introduced by Macromedia in 1996. Initially it allowed displaying smooth animations in Web pages."

Actually Flash started as FutureSplash owned by FutureWave Software. FutureWave was bought by Macromedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FutureSplash

I was using Futurewave animator back in the mid 90's, damn I must be old :-)

Actually it was introduced into the Web as FutureSplash, there was a browser plugin for Netscape which would play .spl files. I remember it was quite exciting at the time that I could make such small filesize animations when everyone was using 33/56 dial-up.

Sure, that was before it was called Flash. Thanks for clarifying.
