Notes on Samba

Why do you need Samba? Is better solution for linux server and desctop - Fuse client (SSH File Transfer Protocol). It is more securiry.

Your solution may be more secure and effective. I will look into it.

I grew up in a Windows environment, and like to code using a file manager and text editor. Samba facilitates mimics an environment I am accustom to and facilitates my transition to Linux.

I'm sure that there are people out there that may even require standard FTP, or would just prefer to SSH into the web server and edit the files directly.

There is nothing wrong with any of these solutions, just the requirements of the environment or users working in them.
