I am still locked into a php4 site.
When I cannot bear it anymore, I won't be able to purchase an upgrade: the vendor still makes the product, but it has grown such that an upgrade would be a new site. I can't afford to hire developers to mod the code.
So there's one small but steady stream of income that will be killed off by the changing software seasons. Multiply it by thousands I presume.
So who knows if there even is such a thing as a stable software language for the web? So much changing so fast...
I'm okay with a new release every few years.
And "var" always tripped me. What visibility does it have anyways...
