This all sounds like pretty trivial minor stuff to me - I don't oppose any of it - but it's not like it's going to make any impact for a LOT of people either. Seems like it's mainly just tweaks to appease the purists rather then anything that will actually help with some of the key problems for PHP (namely unicode etc) which I realize is a monumental issue to tackle - but is also a monumental problem.
