This has to be the most elaborate design competition I have ever seen! Do you not think you have gone over the top a little? It seems rather unneccesary to create a whole load of code just for this. Wouldn´t it have been simpler to just let people submit a psd? The designers will all do a load of work creating their template, when only one will be used.

The design proposal system was developed not just to be used this year, but also in the future to redesign other templates of the site besides the main header and future. So, the development effort will be well worth it.

Designers may use whatever tools they want, but in the end the site needs HTML, CSS and icons. PhotoShop files are not useful to let the site verify whether the proposed design is feasible and complies with certain requirements, such as elements that must be in the templates.

Currently the system only requires one template. It should not be much work for the designer to convert a Photoshop file into HTML. Once he does that he can try the template and immediately see in the design editor how it looks with different types of pages in the site.

Despite only one design proposal will win, other runner ups may also win prizes. Next year, current proposals may be reused. So even if you do not win this year your work will not be totally wasted.
